Francine Manilow

President

Over 32 years ago, Francine Manilow was the first person to offer short-term corporate housing in the United States. For much of her life, she has been a serial entrepreneur, forming many new businesses all the while working as a stewardess for United Airlines.

Today, Manilow Suites consists of over 200 apartments in luxury high-rise buildings in the downtown Chicago area as well as Chicago suburbs. It is through constant innovation and exceptional customer service that Manilow Suites enjoys a phenomenal reputation. Manilow Suites is a certified woman owned small business and was recently awarded a GSA contract.

Francine Manilow has been the recipient of numerous awards: Office Depot Business Woman of the Year, NAWBO Chicago Business Woman of the Year and the WBDC Entrepreneur of the Year just to name a few. She serves on several boards and does whatever possible to assist other women in business, including mentoring young women at Babson College.




 

Sarah McWhorter

VP of Client Services

Sarah was working for another corporate housing company when I met her. We toured some of their properties with Sarah, and I was so impressed with her graciousness, charm and sincerity. When I had word that the other company was pulling out of downtown Chicago I jumped at the chance to hire Sarah. What a treasure I found in her. Sarah is so genuine. She cares so much about each and every client.

 

Rosie Bonar

Finance Manager

Rosie joined Manilow Suites 12 years ago when she was only 21 years old. She revamped our bookkeeping procedures. These new procedures allowed us to be far more productive in our financial planning. As a consequence of 9/11, we had a financial setback.

Rosie set up a framework with every vendor and numerous vendors told us that we were the only ones who kept in contact with them. With Rosie's efforts our reputation was only further enhanced. Today, Rosie is such an integral part of Manilow Suites. She is our financial analyst and because of her and her systems, we are far more productive and effective in providing the finest in corporate housing.


 

Maggie Magana

VP of Operations

I had an idea to open a bath and linens store with American made products in Cancun, Mexico. At the time, Maggie was working part-time for United Airlines at their ticket counter. This is an exciting story, but we have to make it short, so the bottom line was that Maggie became my store manager. I became an expert on the new NAFTA at that time but ultimately could not fight the devaluation of the peso or the local figures who made up their own rules.

Maggie moved back to her hometown of Los Angeles and for years I pleaded with her to move to Chicago and help with the business. At one time, Manilow Suites was at a very low point. I just could not find the right people for the right job and again pleaded with Maggie to come and help. This incredible woman moved to Chicago in the height of our winter season. From that day on we have never had a problem or a complaint about housekeeping. Maggie is our VP of operations and she does one fabulous job. Maggie has been with Manilow Suites for over 20 years!




 

Kim DeVenuto

Accounting Administrator

Kim was originally hired to take Rosie's place while Rosie was on maternity leave. My original thought was to hire her full-time for only four months and then offer her a part-time job. She turned out to be absolutely phenomenal. Not only is she an outstanding bookkeeper, but this woman has found so many ways for us to save money. She is also a top negotiator.


 

Courtney Ewing

Marketing & Communications

Courtney was hired as a summer intern two years ago. She was originally hired to manage Manilow Suites’ social media. Courtney is a recent graduate of Depaul University with a BA in Public Relations. We quickly realized that this was truly a unique individual.

Despite her young age she has an incredible ability to reason and to quickly grasp new technology as well as having tremendous empathy to deal with people. Courtney has greatly contributed towards the success of the company, and we hope she will stay with us for many years to come.


 

Caroline Brown

Administrative Assistant

Caroline, a former United Airlines flight attendant, supervisor and instructor, was asked to just help out part time when I first started my business 34 years ago. Caroline has a tremendous organizational ability and has been a wonderful right arm to me as well as a dear friend. Our staff gave her an additional title of Director of Fun as she always lights up the office during the couple days she is there each week.
