Meeting Oscar Munoz CEO Of United and Continental Airlines

 

Francine Manilow, founder of Manilow Suites, and an Executive member of the Executive Club’s Round Table Program  attended The Executive’s Club of Chicago‘s premier program, “United Airlines: Landing a Long-Term Strategy”. The luncheon welcomed more than 1000 people in attendance, many of whom are the most prominent executives and business leaders of Chicago. Francine, (who feels that Mr. Munoz is the best thing to happen in years for United) was so impressed with Oscar Munoz, that this story can only be told in her own words.

“United Airlines has been part of my life for the past 55 years. During that time, I have met every president and CEO of United since its founder, Pat Patterson. Oscar Munoz, the current CEO of United, is the most extraordinary person who is ever been in that position. The man has such compassion and empathy. He cares for everyone: the employees, the passengers and everyone he meets.

At a recent Executive’s Club of Chicago reception, I wanted to do something special.  As a proud, retired United Flight Attendant, I had the opportunity to give to him my thirty-year Flight Attendant pendant in wishing him good luck.

During his speech, much to my overwhelming surprise, not only did he mention the pendant, but he also spoke of Manilow Suites and how pleased he was when he stayed with us. For a person of such importance to think of a small company such as Manilow Suites is so moving and I cannot begin to express my deepest appreciation to thank him for his thoughtfulness.

I know that with someone as caring and thoughtful as Oscar Munoz at the helm, United Airlines will always be the finest airline to fly on and the finest airline to work for.”
